Latest government announcement

The Prime Minister has announced measures to deal with Covid during the autumn and winter months. The Covid-19 Response: Autumn and Winter Plan includes:

  • Offering first dose Covid vaccinations for young people aged 12 to 15
  • Offering booster vaccinations to people over 50, care home residents, health and social care workers, and those aged 16 to 49 years with severely weakened immune systems
  • Continuing the work of NHS Test, Trace and Isolate programme and free PCR tests
  • Encouraging free flu vaccine take-up (extended to over-50s and secondary school pupils)
  • Reminding people to let in fresh air if meeting indoors and to wear face coverings in crowded settings

The government has also set out a range of ‘Plan B’ measures, which will be kept under review if Plan A is not sufficient to prevent “unsustainable pressure” on the NHS.

These include compulsory face coverings in some settings, introducing mandatory vaccine only Covid status certification in certain, riskier settings, and considering asking people to work from home if necessary. The government has stated that these measures would only be put in place if necessary and if a range of metrics and indicators mean the NHS is at risk of being overwhelmed.

What we’re doing to keep you safe

At Stonewater, we are continuing to take a cautious approach.  While infection rates remain high, we will keep the Covid measures we already have in place for the time being, to keep everyone as safe as possible.  You can find out more about what we’re doing here.

The measures are working well and we hope that continuing with them will provide reassurance for our customers, recognising that many of you may feel anxious now that restrictions have been lifted.  We will of course keep a close eye on the situation and listen carefully to what our customers and colleagues are telling us, so we can adapt our services as things evolve.

Things aren’t quite back to normal but we’re still here for you

Like many people, some of our colleagues and contractors have had to self-isolate.  We’re doing everything we can to make sure this doesn’t affect you but there may be times where it could take you longer to get through to us on the phone or where confirmed repairs may change at short notice.  We’re sorry if this impacts you.

You can manage your account and repairs through MyHome, but if you need to contact us, we’ll answer as soon as we can.  We understand that the impacts of the pandemic aren’t over for many, so if you’re worried about your finances, please get in touch with us so we can support you.

Your safety remains our priority

Although restrictions have eased, we want everyone to continue to feel safe.  If we’re visiting you in your home, we’re asking you, our colleagues and partners to continue wearing a face covering and keep a safe distance from others, wherever possible.

Once again, I’d like to thank you for your continued support and for helping us all to look after each other.  I hope you and your families stay safe.
